NEPTUNE PACIFIC Direct Line has placed two Fijian agency and logistics businesses under the one umbrella, bringing together Transam and Williams & Gosling PTE Limited.

Effective earlier this month the companies are trading as Transam Fiji PTE Limited or TRANSAM for short.

“For our customers in Fiji this will be business as usual with all the same logistics services in operation,” the company said.

“The objective of the change is to consolidate Williams & Gosling and Transam as one team, one brand and one platform in Fiji with the support of the TRANSAM international agency network. By combining sea and airfreight services together with trucking, customs and warehousing on one platform (CargoWise) we will provide customers with an improved end-to-end service.

“From an operational standpoint, this simplification and standardisation of our Fiji businesses, using tools like CargoWise, will enable automation of our logistics data helping management to focus on customer service and reliability. All our staff will continue to be reached on the same phone numbers and at the same email addresses.

NPDL marketing & communications manager David Wyatt said efficiency gains from the consolidation include improved booking, financial and operational systems across both companies.

“Our customers have used both Williams & Gosling and Transam for decades.

“Now they have the simplicity of one company providing end-to-end freight services combining international sea and airfreight with domestic trucking, customs, warehousing, and fully integrated logistics services to meet all their supply chain needs,” Mr Wyatt said.

The consolidation will also result in international network benefits through systems alignment and “international shared know-how” with TRANSAM agencies in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Samoa, Tonga, American Samoa, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Wallis & Futuna, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, Norfolk Island and French Polynesia.

W&G was established in Suva 104 years ago, as a partnership between Capt. Williams and Capt. Gosling to provide pilot boat services at Fiji ports. Their efforts gained momentum through the years as shipping expanded to and from Fiji and the neighbouring island countries. With expansion came opportunities to provide more comprehensive logistics services and W&G claims to be Fiji’s leading freight forwarder and customs broker.

Transam was born as a family business in 1993 acting as agents for Translink Pacific Shipping. Over time the Transam brand has grown across the Pacific to 13 independent offices with similar local shareholding type structures.

In 2005 the brands and businesses joined the PDL Group (a family business also) via shareholding giving a very strong structure and support resources. In 2020 the acquisition of PDL by (the now) NPDL Group brought new strengths and support services to the Transam network. In Fiji Transam looks after sea freight, trucking, customs and warehousing and logistics services.
