PORT of Newcastle has become the latest to implement OneStop Modal and the OneStop Vehicle Booking System – two products developed for container management.
From today (5 August) the two systems will be rolled out under a “strategic partnership” between OneStop and Port of Newcastle.
OneStop Modal is a depot operating system designed to automate management of container parks and facilities. The system was due to go live at DP World’s Port of Brisbane container park and at Tyne Container Services’ Port Botany container depot in June.
OneStop VBS is web-based booking system built to enable transport carriers to book timeslots for the pick-up and drop-off of containers by road at terminal and depot facilities.
Container activity at the Port of Newcastle had previously been limited by a legislative process which required the port reimburse the state (for compensation owed to NSW Ports) if its container trade exceeded a certain level. Port of Newcastle paid a one-off compensation payment in April to end this process.
OneStop expects its technology to “revolutionise the Port of Newcastle” by improving operational efficiency, streamlining container movements and optimising traffic flow management.
The software developer said its vehicle booking system would minimise truck waiting times and reduce bottlenecks, while OneStop Modal would enhance container-handling coordination and improve turnaround times.
“Our partnership with the Port of Newcastle is a testament to our commitment to creating a more sustainable and efficient supply chain ecosystem,” OneStop CEO Sam Askin said.
“By leveraging our advanced OneStop Modal and VBS solutions, and incorporating the latest technology capabilities, we are poised to transform containerised freight operations and drive significant economic and environmental benefits for the region.”
