MAKING sense of the container supply chain can be difficult.

A workshop in Fremantle, Western Australia, to explain how the logistics chain works is being run by the Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) from 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday, 28 March.

The Workshop is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of how the container logistics chain works in practice.

It will look at the major stakeholders, how they interact, and how everyone fits into the chain.

Other subjects covered include what is driving operational behaviours in the supply chain?

How does the flow of information affect the physical movement of containers?

What do optimal supply chains for import and export look like, and what happens in practice?

How to meet the challenges of an efficient and productive supply chain as container volumes grow?

How do you minimise delays and avoid added costs?

What is the future for road and rail interfaces with container stevedores, empty container parks, landside transport operators and customers in WA?

The CTAA says the workshop is ideal for industry and government stakeholders alike, at the entry level or more seasoned participants.

The workshop at Quest Fremantle, will be followed by a tour of Fremantle’s port logistics facilities.

The workshop includes a workshop booklet, coffee or tea on arrival, morning tea and a light lunch and a tour of port-related facilities providing an “up close and personal” experience of container logistics operations, including an empty container park, transport operations, and a container terminal at Fremantle.

Ticket prices are $390 for CTAA/FTA members, and $440 general rate, including GST.
