PERTH-BASED marine and subsea services company MMA Offshore has been awarded a contract in the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone in Bass Strait.

On behalf of key client, offshore wind company, Ørsted, MMA will undertake one of the first reconnaissance site surveys taking place in the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone since feasibility licences were granted.

The Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone, which covers around 15,000 square kilometers off the coast of Victoria has been declared suitable for offshore renewable energy.

A statement from MMA on 11 November said MMA’s fully integrated vessel subsea capabilities onboard MMA’s MPSV vessel, the Australian-flagged Offshore Solution would be used to acquire and deliver a key set of subsea data to support future offshore wind developments in the region.

The campaign is scheduled to begin in Q4 2024 and run through to Q1 2025.

MMA managing director, Mr David Ross, said MMA was delighted to announce the offshore wind support contract within the Australian region.

“As a testament to MMA’s significant amount of experience in supporting the offshore wind market in South East Asia, we believe this marks the first of many opportunities in the Australian offshore wind sector in the coming years,” Mr Ross said.

“We look forward to partnering with Ørsted to deliver this project safely and successfully, and to further advancing MMA’s efforts in the renewable energy market.

“Whether delivered as a singular solution, or an end-to-end integrated project – we partner closely with our clients to provide innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions to solve the most demanding marine challenges.”

MMA has a global presence, with offices in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Dubai and the United Kingdom.

MMA is a subsidiary of Cyan Renewables.
