AUSTRALIA is well represented among the 100 Top Women in Shipping for 2024 with Josephine Clark, Alison Cusack and Sue Dight all making the list.
The 100 Top Women in Shipping, an initiative of the UK’s All About Shipping, are selected through a voting system and named each year. The results recognise women around the world who are making an impact on the maritime industry.
Ms Clark a marine pilot and president of the Australasian Marine Pilots Institute, came through at 48th on the list.
Ms Cusack, maritime lawyer and founder of Cusack & Co, made the top 100 for the second year in a row, moving up to 57th in the latest round.
And Ms Dight took out the 76th position, recognised for her work as Mission to Seafarers regional director for Australia and PNG.
“It was wonderful to see The Mission to Seafarers on there amongst all the shipping lines, freight and technology solutions and shipping associations,” Ms Dight said.
“I was happy to see Alison and Jo on the list. Both are long-term supporters of the Mission and work we do, and women who have personally supported me in my career in the industry.”
Ms Dight said she received the news during a trip to South Australia, visiting local Mission to Seafarers centres.
“For a regional director of a charity to be on that list, I think it speaks to the work we do at the mission and how well-recognised the mission now is across the globe.”
Ms Dight congratulated the other women who were recognised as the top of their fields within the maritime sector.
