FREIGHT rail operator Aurizon will introduce the Inbound Connect vehicle booking and visibility system for its container terminal operations at the Port of Gladstone.

According to a communication sent by Aurizon to industry stakeholders in Gladstone recently, the introduction of Inbound Connect is expected to significantly improve terminal efficiency and safety.

Set to go live on 29 April, the system allows transport operators to schedule vehicle arrivals in advance and provides real-time visibility of container movements, intending to reduce congestion and streamline operations, including faster and more reliable truck turnaround times and the intended elimination of queuing at the gate.

The rollout aligns Gladstone with other mixed-use regional ports across Australia that have adopted the Inbound Connect platform, including Darwin, Townsville, Dampier, and Port Hedland.

The Port of Gladstone is a vital regional hub that plays a key role in connecting Queensland’s industries to global markets, as well as supporting local exporters.

Trade volumes at the port have continued to rise, underscoring the need for advanced logistics solutions as the port’s strategic importance grows.

Aurizon’s investment in the technology is aimed at supporting regional supply chains with safer and more efficient infrastructure.

Aurizon is an ASX-listed company and is Australia’s largest rail freight operator, moving essential commodities and connecting regional producers to domestic and international markets.
