DCN AWARDS SPOTLIGHT SERIES

Spotlight On: Bulk & Specialised Shipping

The Bulk & Specialised Shipping Award recognises the work of parties involved in the process of handling bulk cargoes, ro-ro, or super heavy lift cargoes.

Shipping line BBC Chartering won the award last year, with the judges applauding the company’s projects, including using its vessels to re-engineer a complicated stowage, the heavy lift of Australia’s largest ever superyacht, and the company’s role in military cargo movements.

Mauro Capano, managing director of BBC Chartering,  said winning the award last year was definitely a morale boost for the team, as well as being rewarded and having recognition given for countless hours of work and going beyond to make projects come to life.

“Also, clients respect that we are industry leaders in this category which is also great for new business!” Mr Capano said.

“I believe (this award) matters as project cargo shipping or moving awkward dimensional or heavy lift cargo is important to industries surrounding the mining sector, oil & gas sector, and also the large infrastructure sector, which are all imperative to Australia’s progression.”

Nominations for the 2024 DCN Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards have now closed, with finalists to be announced via the DCN newswire in mid-October. Sign up here to make sure you don’t miss the announcement!
