CONTAINER Transport Alliance Australia is hosting two Queensland seminars next month on safe container loading and transport practices, as part of a series making its way around Australia.
CTAA has teamed up with Freight & Trade Alliance, the Australian Peak Shippers Association, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and chain-of-responsibility experts CoRsafe to discuss the latest advice, updates and resources for safe loading.
The first two seminars, in Brisbane and Toowoomba, are a collaboration with a Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI) administered by the NHVR on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.
They aim to increase awareness of the dangers of poorly packed, unrestrained and unevenly balanced cargo inside shipping containers, and impacts on the container logistics chain.
They also aim to promote best practice in container packing and cargo restraint inside shipping containers from a commercial and a safety standpoint; and increase the use of best practice resources.
“We’ve lined up a fascinating set of panel speakers for these half-day events, with plenty of opportunity for Q&A with the panel members and networking with attendees,” CTAA said.
The lineup includes NHVR, container terminal representatives (on the results of verified gross mass container weight checks), chain of responsibility experts, marine insurance specialists and cargo restraint experts.
CTAA has noted all seminar participants will receive a code to access an advanced copy of the Safe Container Loading Transport Guide, published by CoRsafe in partnership with CTAA.
The Queensland seminars are supported by Port of Brisbane, NHVR, National Transport Insurance, X-Pak Global, Patrick Terminals, SEQH, OneStop, V-DAQ and Matchbox Exchange.
The Brisbane seminar is on Wednesday 16 October, and the Toowoomba seminar on Thursday 17 October.
