PILBARA Ports Authority has reported a total monthly throughput of 59.8 million tonnes in July 2024.
The latest monthly figure is consistent with total throughput handled in July last year.
The Port of Port Hedland handled 44 million tonnes, of which 43.2 million tonnes was iron ore exports. This was a 1% decrease in total throughput compared with July 2023.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 192,000 tonnes, which is 1000 tonnes more than what was imported through Port Hedland in July 2023.
The Port of Dampier handled a total of 14.6 million tonnes, a 4% increase from July 2023.
And imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 169,000 tonnes, an increase of 58% from July 2023.
PPA noted several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
