PILBARA Ports handled 52.7 million tonnes of cargo in February 2024.
The latest monthly throughput figures were down 4% compared with February 2023.
The Port of Port Hedland handled 39.5 million tonnes, of which 38.8 million tonnes was iron ore exports.
There was minimal variance to Port Hedland’s total throughput compared with February 2023.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 157,000 tonnes, which was a decrease of 3% compared with February 2023.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 12.3 million tonnes, which was a 16% decrease from volumes reported in February 2023.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 127,000 tonnes, an increase of 46% from February 2023.
Pilbara Ports Authority noted several factors which influenced the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
Total throughput across all ports since 1 July 2023 has amounted to 485.2 million tonnes.
