PILBARA Ports saw a 10% increase in total monthly throughput last month, against figures reported in September 2023.
The bulk export ports handled a total of 66.3 million tonnes in September 2024.
Port of Port Hedland posted a monthly throughput of 49.8 million tonnes, of which 48.8 million tonnes was iron ore exports. This was a 9% increase compared with the total monthly throughput in September 2023.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 224,131 tonnes, which was a 24% increase compared with September 2023.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 15 million tonnes in September 2024, up 9% on the same month last year.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 143,845 tonnes, an increase of 24% from September 2023.
Pilbara Ports Authority noted that several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
