LOGISTICS solutions provider OneStop has announced the expansion of its ongoing partnership with Intermodal Group (IMG) to include the latter’s newest facility in Kenwick, Western Australia.
Freight logistics specialist IMG will introduce Onestop’s Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and OneStop Modal at IMG’s new Kenwick Intermodal Terminal, in order to enhance operational efficiency, container movements, and traffic flow.
The Kenwick Intermodal Terminal (IMT) was announced to have begun operations last week, linking Fremantle Port’s North Quay via a rail service with a capacity of 100 TEU per service, operated by Watco Australia.
Kenwick IMT is set to increase container rail volumes through the North Quay Rail Terminal, where IMG is headquartered, and the future Westport, intending to enhance the efficiency of WA’s metropolitan rail freight supply chain.
OneStop Modal and VBS are expected to play a significant role in streamlining operations at Kenwick IMT. The IMG initiative will boost the region’s capacity by providing an additional 2000 TEU for empty container storage.
This collaboration between IMG and OneStop is expected to deliver numerous benefits to the industry, including; attracting new shipping lines due to the increased TEU, cost reduction for transport operators, and streamlining container movements, with Kenwick IMT to service as an inland port.
Adam Lebihan, VP Intermodal at Intermodal Group, said the launch of the Kenwick Intermodal Terminal is a significant step in their mission to enhance Western Australia’s logistics infrastructure.
“Partnering with OneStop to implement their advanced OneStop Modal and VBS solutions, underscores our commitment to adopting innovative technologies that improve operational efficiency and service delivery” Mr Lebihan said.
“This collaboration will not only boost our capacity but also provide substantial benefits to our customers, enabling smoother, more cost-effective container movements across the region.”
Chris Harnett, chief commercial officer at OneStop said the extension of their partnership with IMG and the deployment of VBS at the Kenwick IMT represented a significant milestone for their company.
“Our OneStop Modal solution will not only streamline operations but also provide crucial visibility into intermodal container movements, ensuring enhanced efficiency and service reliability” Mr Harnett said.
“We are proud to support IMG’s growth and to bring about operational excellence that will benefit the entire industry.”
