PARTNERS CMA CGM and Marfret are to begin seasonal port omissions on the weekly PAD/NASP service linking ANZ, East Coast North America, Europe and the South Pacific as they battle schedule-keeping challenges.

In what is described as a provisional change, CMA CGM said that in order to “tackle the current operational constraints” on the service, port calls at London Gateway and Port Botany will be dropped until CMA CGM Blue’s voyage 0RPJRS1MA/0RPJSN1MA call at Tauranga, which presumably coincides with the end of the kiwifruit export season.

The London Gateway omission will commence as from Cape Scott voyage 0RPIVS1MA / 0RPIWN1MA with ETA 10 April.  Imports will be offered via Dunkerque with NEFWI service to London, while exports will be shifted to the NEMO service (Europe-Australia via the Cape of Good Hope) whenever possible.

Port Botany will be bypassed from CMA CGM Orange voyage 0RPINS1MA / 0RPION1MA, ETA 2 May. Imports will be transhipped via Brisbane or Melbourne with ANL services, whereas Melbourne and Brisbane will need to be used as export ports in Australia, the lines say.

PAD/NASP has been the subject of an almost incessant stream of ad hoc port omission notifications in recent months as the service has battled bad weather, congestion and other issues.

In January CMA CGM/Marfret added seasonal fruit-loading calls at Piso, Peru to the service and last month, Zeebrugge was added (for seasonal kiwifruit discharge) and Colon (Manzanillo International Terminal) swapped to Cartagena; occasional calls are also made at Marsden Point.

PAD/NASP employs 14 vessels of c.2500 TEU with a high number of reefer plugs.
