NAUTICAL Shipping, part of Gold Coast-based Leeward Group, has been appointed as agent for global dry bulk operator Ultrabulk.
Ultrabulk, a subsidiary of Chile-headquartered Ultranav, has a fleet of more than 170 vessels. It established its Sydney office in 2018.
Nautical Shipping in a statement said Ultrabulk has been using non-commercial port agents to manage the import requirements of their multipurpose ships. Seeing the potential for growth within the Australian market, Ultrabulk’s Danish headquarters began seeking a full-service Australian commercial partner.
Nautical Shipping is now the full service import Australian agent for Ultrabulk Multipurpose division.
Leeward Group chairman Darren Dumbleton said the discussions with Ultrabulk had been underway for several months.

“Ultrabulk target market, construction, bagged, steel, energy and other break bulk cargo adds an extra service offering to our, customer portfolio. Nautical Shipping’s principal portfolio will provide customers with container, ro-ro and break-bulk shipping services.

Jorgen Larson, head of MPP and mini bulk services, said Ultrabulk had been looking for a full-service partner to develop its import cargo routes to Australia.
