GANESH RAJ, former CEO and MD of ANZ/Asia Pacific including DP World Australia, has been appointed CEO of Unifeeder and global COO of Marine Services with DP World.
Mr Raj was with DPWA from August 2009 until December 2014 after which he took on a similar role for Europe and Russia. He was with the parent group for 17 years, rising to Chief Global Network Officer at the corporate head office of the company, a role held between April 2018 and January 2021. He then took a break from DP World to establish Dubai-based consultancy Global Maritime Review before returning as the CEO of Unifeeder ISC in November last year.
In Alpahliner’s July 2024 Top 100 container lines the Denmark-founded and headquartered Unifeeder rates 17th, with total TEU capacity of 143,517 and ranking behind only the X-Press Group in the global feeder operator category. It utilises 93 ships, all chartered, although some are understood to be sourced from other entities in the Dubai Ports Group.
DP World acquired Unifeeder in 2018 and made it a part of its marine services division. It has since been expanded through acquisition and development, serving hundreds of ports throughout Europe, Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
In the last 12 months there have been frequent rumours of an entry by Unifeeder into Australian trades, including a speculated tie-up with railco Aurizon through Darwin and a peak-season export reefer service, so far without realisation.
In a post on LinkedIn Mr Raj said: “As a leading provider of maritime solutions around the world, I look forward to contributing my expertise and working to deliver operational excellence and sustainable growth.
“I would like to extend my appreciation to [retiring Unifeeder CEO] Jesper Kristensen for your guidance and support as I strive to build upon the success and legacy you have established.
“Together with my talented team, we will continue to drive our mission forward and transform the future of global trade.”
