FLINDERS Warehousing and Distribution (FWD) has announced it is implementing vehicle booking system (VBS) Inbound Connect at Outer Harbor (South Australia).
Part of Flinders Port Holdings (FPH) group, FWD confirmed that the system would be implemented from 5 February this year.
FWD revealed its reasoning for the move, saying it will enable the company to provide the most efficient service possible for both clients and transport operators that utilise the FWD facility, including faster and more reliable truck turnaround times.
Further, FWD stated that Inbound Connect would ensure the safety of its staff and visitors is at the “highest possible standard” while at FWD.
As a result of the news, from 5 February, transport operators will be required to make a timeslot booking with Inbound Connect for every truck arriving to pick up or drop-off freight at FWD, Outer Harbor.
In a post on LinkedIn, Inbound Connect said the partnership marked another milestone in its expansion across South Australia, welcoming FWD as its first new client of 2025.
Meanwhile, FPH also announced on 6 January that it is now an authorised VTS Provider for its regional ports.
“Up until 25 October 2024, we were a Coastal Radio Service for these regional ports and an accredited VTS Provider for the Adelaide VTS area, which we achieved in December 2020,” FPH said in the announcement.
“Since December 2020, our team have been working hard to achieve accreditation for the other 9 ports.
“Becoming an accredited VTS provider means FPH comply with both the Australian Framework (AMSA) and the International Framework (IALA.) Vessels entering our port will know to expect the global standards in shipping safety, service and guidance.”
FPH confirmed this covers Ardrossan, Klein Point, Port Giles, Wallaroo, Port Pirie, Port Bonython, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, and Thevenard.
