CMA CGM opened a new agency in Solomon Islands today (25 September).
Solomon Islands is serviced by ANL’s WESTPAC service, which connects to Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. The service is scheduled to call Honiara every 18 days.
The new Solomon Islands agency compliments CMA CGM’s existing Pacific Island agency network, which includes New Caledonia, French Polynesia, PNG and, most recently, Vanuatu.
ANL managing director Shane Walden, who heads up the Oceania agency network, said establishing a CMA CGM Group office in Solomon Islands represents a step in the group’s commitment to the market.
“This development will provide the opportunity to better understand and facilitate the needs of our local clients,” Mr Walden said.
“Customer relationships are essential to CMA CGM’s position as a key player in the South Pacific and we look forward to the next chapter together.”
Myat Thu Han has been appointed general manager of the new Solomon Islands agency. He was previously GM of the Myanmar agency – a position he held for two years.
“As the new general manager of the Solomon Islands branch, I am committed to driving efficient and reliable customer service to clients, while utilising our advantages in the market to ensure expedited container delivery to and from terminals,” he said.
The group said it aims to contribute to the growth of Solomon Islands and the broader Oceania region with the addition of the new agency.
