PORT OF AUCKLAND’s main container handling facility will be closed this weekend while the Fergusson Terminal undergoes an operating system upgrade.

POAL says the upgrade of the N4 TOS from version 2.6 to 4.0 will improve operational resilience, efficiency and support the operations into the future, but will require a 48-hour closure of the Fergusson Terminal during which all containerised cargo operations will stop to facilitate system cutover, testing, and a controlled re-start.

Key dates:

  • No new vessel operations from 0700 hours, Friday 11 April. Manifests and BAPLIEs should be supplied no later than 1500 hours, Thursday 10 April. Load Lists should be supplied by 0300 hours, Friday 11 April.
  • No Receival & Delivery (R&D) Operations from 1500 hours, Friday 11 April. Last VBS booking at 1330 hours, Friday 11 April. Demurrage and Export Storage charges will be suspended during the days of closure. Customer Services team will handle any additional queries on a case-by-case basis.
  • Terminal re-open: Full operations are expected to resume at 1500 hours, Sunday 13 April.
  • Multi-Cargo Operations: The container terminal closure does not impact bulk, break/bulk, or car processing activity in the Multi-Cargo facilities. Wallace Investments Ltd will continue to operate vessels if scheduled during the 48-hour period. Manifests and discharge/load lists should be supplied no later than 1200 hours, Thursday 10 April. Limited R&D operations from 1500 hours, Friday 11 April to enable movements of any DMV or 24hour hazardous containers. All other R&D will be halted.
  • During the 48-hour closure, the following PortConnect services for Fergusson Terminal and Multi-Cargo containers will be unavailable: Pre-Advice for Export & Storage; Express PIN; Shuttle Connect; Clear Container; Cost Acceptance.
  • Container tracking will remain available; however container data will not be updated until the upgraded system goes live. All EDI data will be stored by PortConnect and uploaded at this time. Container Chain/VBS: No new VBS bookings can be made, or existing bookings changed during the 48-hour outage. Bookings can be made and changed outside this period.
