MARITIME industry figures gathered on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin on Sunday (23 October) for the annual commemoration at the National Merchant Navy War Memorial.

The event was co-ordinated by the Merchant Navy War Memorial Fund, which is seeking approval for the merchant navy emblem on existing war memorials.

One of its newer projects was unveiled at St Andrews Village Memorial Bravery Garden in Ballina NSW on 15 October.
