MAERSK has introduced two new air freight services connecting Asia-Pacific region with North America.
Maersk expects its air corridor between the US and China to “plug a connectivity gap” between the two largest markets for its ocean customers.
The first of the services will begin with two weekly flights between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport.
The second will begin with two weekly flights between Chicago Rockford International Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.
Maersk plans to increase the frequency of both services to three flights each week from May 2023.
A.P. Moller – Maersk global head of air Michel Pozas Lucic said controlled capacity is a feature of the new services.
“At Maersk, we want to ensure that our customers have the visibility, reliability, and resilience in their supply chains,” he said.
“Air freight continues to be an important asset in our customer’s end-to-end logistics needs.”
The services will be supported by three newly acquired Boeing 767-300 freighters that Maersk Air Cargo recently added to its fleet.
They are to be operated by Miami-headquartered cargo airline Amerijet International.
The new air services will provide options for time sensitive and high-value cargo.
