A CROSSSECTION of the maritime community gathered at Smoke Bar, Barangaroo House, recently for a celebration marking one year of operations for Engage Towage.
Guests ship agents, vessel operators, port authority representatives and pilots as well as other service providers to the ports in Sydney.
Engage Marine CEO Mark Malone thanked guests for their support in creating competition in the towage market for Sydney and Geelong before introducing port captains Rob Garrett and Dom McCarron who presented Sister Mary with a cheque supporting her work supporting seafarers visiting Sydney.
The money was collected as a contribution from the crews which was matched dollar-for-dollar by Engage Towage.
The initiative was the result of discussions between Sydney pilot Michael Kelly and Engage Towage port captains and management.
After the presentation, David Fethers (Smit Lamnalco MD – Australia & PNG) and Mark Malone cut the tugboat birthday cake accompanied by a rousing rendition of “happy birthday”.
Engage Towage commercial manager Adam Rowlison reflected upon the progress of the business to date.
“It was a pleasure to celebrate our first year of successful operations with key members of our industry,” he said.
“We are grateful of the support we have received to date from both clients and industry”. Engage Towage is a joint venture between Engage Marine and Smit Lamnalco.
