CRUISE is making a post-pandemic comeback around the country, and the Western Australian town of Geraldton is preparing to welcome one such vessel at the end of October.
At 294 metres, the Coral Princess is to be the longest ship to visit the Port of Geraldton. The vessel will also be the first large cruise vessel to visit Western Australia in two and a half years.
Mid West Ports Authority said it is working closely with the City of Greater Geraldton to ensure the passenger experience in the town is world-class.
Geraldton will welcome four cruise ships, hosting up to 6100 passengers and crew before new year, with another 14 cruise ships on the calendar for 2023.
MWPA CEO Damian Tully said cruise plays an important role in the activation of the Mid West tourism industry.
“We are very excited to be welcoming cruise back to Geraldton after two and a half years,” he said.
“There will be a lot of passengers in town on the day and we encourage our community to welcome them and assist where possible. MWPA is working very closely with CGG to ensure visitors to Geraldton and the Mid West have an exceptional experience.”
