STRONG winds that have hit Sydney have caused delays to stevedoring operations at Port Botany.
In a notice to customers, stevedore DP World Australia said the Sydney harbour master had directed storm lines be deployed on all vessels currently alongside.
“Vessel operations have ceased and will not resume until storm lines are removed,” the statement read.
A spokesperson for Patrick said there had been “intermittent delays” on Thursday.
“Cranes with all steveres have just been booked up and pinned as the wind get worse,” the spokesperson said.
“There will be delays through the (Wednesday) night shift as well judging by the forecast.”
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted “large and powerful surf conditions” around Sydney on Thursday morning.
