VICTORIA International Container Terminal has received a delivery of six automated stacking cranes.
VICT purchased the equipment as part of an ongoing expansion projects.
The new ASCs will operate on three new yard modules, which will increase VICT’s yard capacity by 30% and reefer capacity by 43%.
The expansion is also adding 15 truck grids. This will increase slot availability by 30%, according to VICT.
VICT is also to acquire two new, larger ship-to-shore cranes, bringing its total STS fleet to seven.
The terminal said the new cranes would have an outreach of 22 containers to enable the handling of up to 14,000-TEU capacity Neo-Panamax ships.
The quay line will also be extended by 71 meters to allow two 336-meter-long vessels to berth simultaneously.
VICT’s expansion is scheduled to be completed and operational by the start of next year and will raise VICT’s annual throughput capacity by 250,000 TEUs to 1.25 million TEUs.
