THE FEDERAL government officially declared an offshore wind zone off the Hunter coast this past week, during a visit to Newcastle.
Following the offshore wind announcement, the Port of Newcastle revealed that 30 organisations had agreed to get involved in the port’s development of a clean energy precinct.
In other news, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority has banned the general cargo ship BBC Pearl.
Also this week, construction started on the Somerton Intermodal Terminal – a key hub in Melbourne’s Port Rail Shuttle network.
And finally, the Australian Rail Track Corporation is creating a new subsidiary company to govern the delivery of the Inland Rail.
