FORMER federal MP Ben Morton has been appointed to the board of Southern Ports.
Ports Minister Rita Saffioti announced Mr Morton’s appointment on Wednesday (21 December). He will formally commence the role on 1 January next year.
Ms Saffioti said Mr Morton brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held a number of ministerial positions while he was a member of Federal Parliament.
“I welcome the appointment of Ben Morton to the board of the Southern Ports Authority,” she said.
“Ben brings a lot of experience to the role and will provide strong leadership on the board.”
Mr Morton is to serve an initial two-year term on the board.
And current board member Robyn Fenech has been reappointed to the board for an additional year.
Ms Fenech was initially appointed in July 2021. Prior to her reappointment, her term was set to end on 31 December this year.
Southern Ports said Ms Fenech brings experience in strategic planning, governance and industry and community consultation.
