PILBARA Ports handled a total throughput of 63.3 million tonnes in October, in line with volumes in the same month last year.
The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 47.7 million tonnes, of which 46.9 million tonnes was iron ore exports, consistent with throughput in the previous year.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 179,000 tonnes, an increase of 11% compared with October 2022.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 14.7 million tonnes, a 1% decrease from October 2022.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 105,000 tonnes, a decrease of 9% from October 2022.
PPA said several factors influence the fluctuation of monthly throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
Total throughput across all ports since 1 July 2023 is 246.4 million tonnes.
