CONTAINER statistics for February 2019 showed throughput of 204,326TEU (or equivalent), down 2.83% on the same period last year.
According to the figures provided by NSW Ports, import full volumes were down by 2.11% with decreases in wood and wooden articles (down 20.12%, miscellaneous manufactured articles (down 11.21%) and non-metallic minerals (down 9.6%).
Export full volumes were up on last year by 6.45% with increases in paper and paper products (up 102.44%), meat (up 13.79%) and iron and steel (up 12.44%).
Export empties were down by 8.56% on the same period last year.
There were 88 vessel visits, the same as February last year. Vessel visits were down in the lower TEU capacity ranges while there were increases in some of the larger ranges. This included four visits in the 8000-9000TEU range compared with none in that range last year.
