MISSION to Seafarers Victoria will welcome a new chief executive as CEO Sue Dight steps down from the role.
Ms Dight has been at the helm for the past five years at the historical Mission to Seafarers centre in Melbourne’s Docklands.
As CEO during COVID-19, Ms Dight provided support to seafarers impacted by pandemic restrictions, in many cases through group vaccinations.
In March this year, MtS Victoria vaccinated seventeen crewmembers onboard bulk carrier MV Mount Owen in Port of Melbourne.
As Ms Dight steps down to take leave and eventually move on to other projects, Philip Cornish will step into the role as interim CEO.
Mr Cornish is a health and community services consultant with three decades of experience in leadership positions across organisations in public and not-for-profit sectors.
Mr Cornish has also been a non-executive board member at MtS Victoria since June last year.
And former ANL chief executive officer John Lines has stepped into the role of chair at MtS Victoria.
He will remain in the role for the next three years to continue the work the mission has been carrying out under Ms Dight’s leadership.
In addition to his former position at ANL, Mr Lines has also served as chairman of Shipping Australia, and chairman for Australia on the Asian Shipowners Forum.
Mr Lines is also the patron of the MtS Victoria Maritime Art Prize and Exhibition.
