FREMANTLE Ports reported a slowdown in container throughput in February.

The port handled a total of 60,375 TEU in February. This was the lowest monthly total container throughput since October 2021 when the port handled 59,102 TEU.

Last month’s throughput was a decrease of 11% on the previous month, and a 17% decrease on February 2022.

Compared with January, containerised exports from Fremantle decreased by 8% to 29,663 TEU in February.

And containerised exports from the port decreased month-on-month by 13% to 30,712 TEU in February.

This decrease was driven by a decrease in overseas imports – 22,651 TEU came into Fremantle in February, 6031 TEU less than the previous month.

However, coastal imports increased from 6586 TEU in January to 8061 TEU last month.
