TENDERS have been called for the next phase of Pilbara Ports’ Dampier Bulk Handling Facility Project.

The tender for a new wharf, named the Link Bridge, is part of the broader Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects, aimed at enhancing the Port of Dampier’s infrastructure and operational capabilities.

The Link Bridge involves the construction of a 125-meter-long concrete deck on steel piles.

The bridge will connect the existing Dampier Cargo Wharf to the new Dampier Bulk Handling Facility (DBHF) and will support ro-ro vessels, a new capability for the port.

The Link Bridge follows on from the first stage of the project, involving the construction of a new land-backed wharf.

This involved dredging a 280-meter-long berth pocket and an 11-meter-deep vessel manoeuvring area.

The facility is designed to handle Supramax and Panamax vessels, with a shiploader and conveyor for bulk urea exports. It will also accommodate general cargo and cruise ships.

The project is funded by the federal and Western Australian governments, with contributions from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) and aims to diversify trade, support emerging green industries, and improve the port’s resilience.

Tenders for the Link Bridge close at 8am on Monday 2 June.
