THE ACQUISITION by ACFS Port Logistics NZ (ACFS) of Coda Group assets will give the operation the scale, resources, and growth opportunities required to excel in an increasingly competitive freight sector according to Coda Group CEO Deena Clarkson.
The ACFS acquisition includes the divisions of Auckland 3PL Transport (FCL and LCL), Auckland Freight Station (FAK), and the Rolleston DC in Christchurch.
The transition is expected to be completed by 1 May. The business will operate and be rebranded as ACFS Port Logistics.
This acquisition does not affect Coda Group’s 4PL operations, nor its Bay of Plenty and Savill Drive locations, which will continue to operate as part of the company’s broader strategy in New Zealand.
Founded in 2015, Coda Group has established itself as a key logistics provider in New Zealand, offering fully integrated logistics solutions across imports, exports, warehousing, freight hubs, and freight management.
Over the past decade, Coda has expanded by incorporating several legacy freight and transport brands, becoming one of New Zealand’s biggest operators in the containerised sector.
ACFS since entering the New Zealand Market in Auckland with a 25,000sqm warehouse located at Otahuhu in late 2023, has been actively pursuing acquisition targets to mirror its service offering with the Australian business of ACFS.
In an ACFS media release issued on 10 March it said the Coda business assets acquired in the transaction would make ACFS a major volume provider of containerised logistic services, offering a multi modal (transport and rail) with the strategically located FCL storage facilities located at Metro Port in Auckland and Rolleston in Christchurch.
Ms Clarkson said the 3PL business had thrived by leveraging deep industry expertise and strong customer relationships.
“By transitioning to ACFS, we’re ensuring that our Auckland 3PL Transport, Auckland Freight Station (FAK), and Rolleston DC have the scale, resources, and growth opportunities required to excel in an increasingly competitive freight sector,” she said.
CEO and Managing Director of ACFS Port Logistics, Arthur Tzaneros said Coda’s capabilities, service offering, and reputation align closely with ACFS’s existing operations in Australia.
“Together, we will strengthen our value proposition for customers throughout New Zealand, and aggressively expand our footprint as a major player in the containerised logistics market.”
The remaining parts of Coda Group, including its freight optimisation (4PL) business, will continue to pursue growth and strategic opportunities, focusing on investments that will enable the company to stay at the forefront of the evolving logistics landscape, and it’s envisaged that the two entities will work closely moving forward
ACFS Port Logistics, established in 2005 by Terry and Arthur Tzaneros, is now the largest privately owned containerised logistics operator in Australia, providing a multi modal service offering across Australia, offering port to final mile logistic services, including transport/rail, warehousing, FCL storage, rail intermodals, and empty depot services.
