ZIM is widening its service coverage in Australasia by launching the New Zealand to Australia service (N2A).
The service connects to both the China Australia Express (CAX) and the China to Australia service (C2A) at Sydney.
The new service offers a 16-day transit time from Shanghai to Auckland and 15 days transit time from Yantian to Auckland.
There are two 1100-TEU vessels with plugs for refrigerated cargo deployed on the servicer.
The maiden call was on April 2nd by GSL Africa calling Auckland.
Zim president and CEO Eli Glickman said the service is in response to market demands.
“The new New Zealand loop … bolsters the stabilisation of our Australia network and supports our expansion into the Australia-New Zealand area. I am sure this new service will provide a solution for our customers’ growing needs in this trade,” he said.
“We see great opportunity in the Australia and New Zealand trade and are confident that our unique Z-factor and innovative yet personal approach will be appreciated and valued by customers in this market.”
