PORT of Melbourne has appointed Shaun Mooney to the role of executive general manager, commercial, with oversight of property and business development.
Mr Mooney joins Port of Melbourne after a time at Linfox as general manager commercial projects, and 18 years at Toll Group, where he held several commercial roles, including executive general manager – finance and commercial – Toll Domestic Forwarding, and global head – automotive and industrials.
Port of Melbourne CEO Brendan Bourke said Mr Mooney’s deep commercial experience in global freight and logistics would bring valuable knowledge and insights.
“Shaun will play a vital role in helping us balance the challenges of our immediate operating environment with the long-term projects that will drive our growth,” Mr Bourke said.
Mr Bourke said Mr Mooney would bring expertise to the delivery of Port of Melbourne’s strategic objectives, including optimising on-port productivity and providing increased on-port capacity.
Mr Mooney said he was excited to be joining Port of Melbourne at a time when supply chain infrastructure was crucial to Australia’s economic rebuild in the wake of the pandemic.
“Port of Melbourne has been critical in keeping Australia moving during this COVID pandemic, and it’s clear it will play a vital role as we transition to post-COVID life,” he said.
“I’m thrilled to be bringing my experience in financial, commercial, operational and general management to Australia’s largest capital city port.” Mr Mooney is to start his new role on July 20.
Mr Mooney takes on the role previously held by Jim Cooper, a former Port of Portland CEO.
