FORMER DP World Australia managing director Paul Scurrah has been confirmed as the new chief executive and managing director of airline Virgin Australia.
Confirmation came in the form of an announcement on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Virgin Australia chair Elizabeth Bryan said Mr Scurrah was “a highly regarded business leader in Australia”.
“His appointment is testament to his strong leadership credentials which include more than 20 years’ experience in transport, logistics, travel and aviation,” Ms Bryan said.
“During his time at DP World Australia, Paul led the business through significant industry change, improved commercial performance, delivered substantial improvements in safety and culture, and increased customer and staff satisfaction to the highest levels in the company’s history.”
Mr Scurrah officially starts his new role on 25 March, the date that current CEO/MD John Borghetti finishes his time at the head of the airline.
Daily Cargo News recently reported on the appointment of Glenn Hilton as new MD/CEO of DPWA, with the international company DPW also taking a majority stake in the business.
