TRANSPORT industry veteran Roz Shaw has been confirmed as guest speaker at the Victorian Transport Association Annual Women’s Lunch on Friday 12 April.
Ms Shaw has had a long career in transport, starting out greasing wheel bearings, loading freight, driving forklifts and B-doubles for the family business Hawkins Road Transport.
By the age of 31, she ran the company, while also raising a family.
The company grew under her leadership with more than $80m in turnover, growing to become a top competitor in refrigerated, fuel and general freight transport.
VTA chief executive Peter Anderson remarked said Roz Shaw’s story was one that should resonate with every transport worker, irrespective of gender.
“It’s a fantastic example of what is possible when you remain focussed and strive to attain personal and professional goals,” Mr Anderson said. “We look forward to hearing her story at our Annual Women’s Lunch.”
Recently, Ms Shaw received the role of head of transport for insurance brokers Gallagher’s, a position which will utilise her 30-year experience in transport operations For her dedication and resilience in building a leading freight transport business and inspiring story, Ms Shaw will be honoured as a speaker at the Encore St Kilda Beach, where the lunch will be held.
