DHL Supply Chain has appointed a new CEO for its Asia Pacific business as regional chief executive Terry Ryan resigns.
Mr Ryan is retiring from DHL Group after more than 40 years with the company.
He will be succeeded by Javier Bilbao, previously CEO of DHL Supply Chain Latin America, effective 1 September.
Mr Bilbao said he was looking forward to the new challenge and to building on the foundations Mr Ryan had laid over the past seven years.
“We will certainly continue to deliver the best-of-class services for our customers, push our accelerated digitalisation program and continue to climb the ranks of being a great place to work,” he said.
“I see many similarities between Asia Pacific and Latin America, with both regions being very diverse, in culture and in the work we do for our customers.
“Asia Pacific is a very exciting region, and it is a region that will lead the global economic growth this year.
“I am very excited to work with the team to tap into these opportunities and grow the business even more.”
DHL Supply Chain said it had, under Mr Ryan’s leadership, achieved profitable business growth across all its markets in the Asia Pacific, tripling its size over the past seven years.
It said Mr Ryan had strengthened the Asia Pacific business through strategic deals including the acquisition of Total Logistics Company and Glen Cameron Group.
And Mr Bilbao started his career at the DHL Group in the UK in 2000 and has held various management positions in the supply chain business.
Since 2017 he has served as CEO of DHL Supply Chain Latin America and as a member of the divisions Global Board.
Under his leadership, DHL Supply Chain Latin America has consolidated its position as a key contributing region in DHL Supply Chain.
