HUTCHISON Ports Sydney has announced that its infrastructure levy will increase to $35.84 per full container.
In a statement to customers, the stevedore said this followed a review of all capital investment.
According to Hutchison, they had determined “that the current rate of recovery will not keep pace with future infrastructure requirements and ongoing maintenance”.
The infrastructure levy is to continue to be applied to all full container movements entering or exiting the terminal by both road and rail.
The trend towards hiking infrastructure fees by stevedores dates back two years and was started by DP World Australia. Since then the other major stevedores have followed suit, prompting calls by industry bodies for state governments to intervene.
