THE Australian Maritime Safety Authority is hosting community information sessions for people who live or work in the Newcastle-Port Stephens region about removal of the YM Efficiency containers.
The AMSA team is to be available to explain the operation to raise 60 containers from the seabed in depths of up to 150 metres.
“We will share with you the safety measures we have in place to contain debris both on and offshore, how the waste will be managed and give you an update on cost recovery of the operation,” AMSA said in a statement.
“This is an opportunity for you to find out how our marine salvage contractor, Ardent Oceania, will carry out Operation Recovery – YM Efficiency, scheduled for March 2020.
“We understand the impact this serious incident continues to have on your community so our project team will be on hand to answer questions and address any concerns.”
The sessions are open to the public and there is no need to register.
