NEW South Wales Roads and Maritime Services have issued three major grounded defects to a company whose truck was involved in a crash on the Hume Highway.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday.
Director of compliance, Roger Weeks said Roads and Maritime Services Inspectors attended the crash about 3am on Friday 15 November, finding the southbound B Double on its side about 3km south of Goulburn.
“The truck which was carrying mixed general freight between Sydney and Melbourne struck the guard rail on the right hand side of the road before veering across two lanes to come to rest on its side on the road shoulder,” Mr Weeks said.
“The crash caused one lane of the highway to be closed for several hours while the truck was recovered.
“The prime mover and two trailers were each issued with a major grounded defect due to the damage caused by the crash”
NSW Police attended and seized a small amount of a substance believed to be methylamphetamine.
The driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Goulburn Base Hospital in a stable condition where he underwent mandatory drug and alcohol testing. Officers from The Hume Police District are investigating.
