AUSTRALIAN logistics business Seaway Group has announced the acquisition of freight company BCR Australia.
BCR is an international and domestic freight forwarding company, founded in 1892 and based in Sydney.
It provides customs brokerage and third-party logistics and has warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, Perth, Cairns and Townsville.
Seaway CEO Craig McElvaney said the group has admired BCR and its leadership team for many years.
“The integration of Seaway and BCR means we can offer our customers the best of our two businesses,” he said.
“It will enable us to create a strong structure, supporting our current customers as well as our future growth plans.”
And BCR Australia CEO Michael Thirgood said the acquisition is an exciting step for the company.
“BCR Australia has a long and rich history and a strong culture,” Mr Thirgood said.
“Being part of the Seaway Group will allow us to create new opportunities and expand and grow our services. United, we will continue to grow and thrive.”
Seaway said the integration with BCR Australia will progress over the coming months.
