MID WEST Ports Authority said it is responding to a minor oil spill inside the Geraldton Harbour on Thursday morning (11 February).
By Thursday afternoon, the MWPA said it had contained the spill to Berth 5 after deploying a series of booms.
“The Department of Transport and other relevant authorities have been notified and are assisting in the response,” the port authority said in a statement.
“MWPA has established an incident management team … who are continuing to undertake response operations.”
MWPA said it would monitor the situation overnight and provide further information as it becomes known.
