Agriculture minister David Littleproud has welcomed Ross Carter into his position as interim inspector-general of Live Animal Exports, describing him as bringing “fresh eyes” and experience.
“Mr Carter is well-placed to oversee live animal export regulation, with some 20 years’ experience in regulatory practice, public administration and related academic studies,” Mr Littleproud said.
The minister said Mr Carter’s new role sparks would provide confidence to farmers, the industry and the livestock exports community.
Mr Littleproud was dedicated to keeping his promise to reset the live export industry and viewed bringing Mr Carter into the role of Inspector-General gains him a step closer to delivering the promise.
“An Inspector-General was a recommendation of the Moss Review, and now it’s done,” Mr Littleproud said. “Mr Carter will audit and review the systems and processes that underpin the department’s regulation of livestock exports.”
