WORKERS employed by Hutchison Ports Australia at Port Botany have returned to work.
Wharfies previously refused to work last week after two cases of coronavirus were reported amongst staff, albeit these were confirmed as not being workplace transmissions.
Sources close to the company have confirmed operations are “back to normal”.
Freight and Trade Alliance director Paul Zalai told Daily Cargo News the dispute did impact freight with containers trapped there for the duration of the stoppage.
Some ships were also sent to DPW Australia to be unloaded instead of Hutchison.
The unloading of cargo ships during the Covid-19 pandemic has also been an issue in Melbourne, with wharfies there refusing to unload a ship from China (via Taiwan) despite it having met Australian Border Force rules for unloading.
