CHINA has completely lifted its unofficial ban on the import of Australian coal, according to global media reports.
Customs offices and ports have been instructed to allow cargoes of Australian coal into the country.
China imposed the trade restrictions in late 2020.
According to Reuters, Australia was China’s second-largest source of coal before the ban was imposed, second to Indonesia.
Australia exported 92.1 million mt of thermal and coking coal to China in 2019. This fell to 70.6 million MT in 2020, according to S&P Global.
