AUSTRALIAN Transport Safety Bureau chief commissioner Greg Hood has met with National Transportation Safety Board chairman Robert L. Sumwalt at the latter’s Washington DC headquarters.
The visit was described as “an opportunity for Greg to meet with NTSB staff and tour the NTSB’s facilities, and to build on the strong bonds between two of the world’s leading transport safety investigation agencies”.
Mr Hood stopped in Washington DC on his return from Quebec, Canada, where he took part in this year’s International Transport Safety Association annual conference.
The ATSB will host next year’s ITSA conference in Sydney in May 2020.
The International Transportation Safety Association is an international network of heads. It covers all modes of transportation, including marine, aviation, railways, road transport, pipelines and underground infrastructure.
Its stated purpose is:
“To bring together independent safety investigation authorities to share information and learn from the experiences of others.”
