RIGHTSHIP and NYK Line have linked their digital platforms with an aim to streamline port state control processes.

The two companies worked with technology firm Solverminds connect NYK’s ship-management platform NiBiKi with RightShip’s data platform.

The product, Port State Control Submission API, was designed to integrate ship managers’ ERP systems directly into the RightShip platform using an API data flow.

NYK said the PSC Submission API system allows users to instantly submit and receive PSC inspection and deficiency data without having to switch between separate platforms.

It said the connection would allow users to spend less time on manual data entry and more time on their operations.

“The PSC Submissions API is a simple but important innovation, designed to address a significant issue for ship managers: the inefficient system that requires them to manually pass data through separate systems,” RightShip chief product officer Christopher Saunders said.

“Our API can drastically improve workflow for ship owners and managers – allowing them to make quicker and better decisions during their pursuit of zero harm operations.”

NYK Line’s general manager – dry bulk marine quality control group Hiroshi Kawaguchi said NYK expects shipowners and managers to experience reduced response times.

“In PSC inspections, building a system that enables more proactive reporting by shipowners and managers will play an important role as part of the above innovation efforts,” he said.

And Ritesh Sood from Solverminds said the firm is focused on creating a more efficient and sustainable ocean supply chain.

“The PSC Submissions API is a major development as part of the digital ship management ERP and can make a big difference in the exchange of information contributing towards safe operations.”
