ASX-listed Provaris Energy has entered into a collaboration agreement with Norwegian Hydrogen to move to the next phase of development for the FjordH2 project at Ørskog in the Ålesund municipality.

The hydrogen production facility is to produce 40,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.

Under the agreement the two companies will carry out pre-front-end engineering and design work permitting and other activities. A statement from Provaris said the two companies are aiming to enter into a binding joint development agreement this year.

Provaris Energy managing director and CEO Martin Carolan said his company’s approach to developing integrated hydrogen projects for export using compression delivers a flexible and efficient way for Norway to help meet demand for green hydrogen in Europe.

“The collaboration with Norwegian Hydrogen will be key to the project, given their expertise and leadership in hydrogen production and distribution projects underway in Norway and Denmark,” he said.

In addition to the facility in Europe, Provaris Energy is developing green hydrogen projects Australia. The company is also working on technology for compressed hydrogen bulk storage and ocean transport.
