TRANSPORT and logistics company Geodis has completed its acquisition of Need It Now Delivers, an American contract logistics specialist.
Need It Now Delivers is based in New Jersey and operates a freight network across 65 company locations and more than 300 distribution points in the United States.
Geodis said the acquisition will expand its US presence in areas of contract logistics and final mile delivery and strengthen its domestic and international freight network.
It is also expected to strengthen Geodis’ omnichannel and e-commerce capabilities in the US alongside existing contract logistics and freight forwarding businesses in the country.
Geodis CEO Christine Lombard said the US has become an essential market for the company as it builds an integrated network of transport and logistics hubs globally.
“This acquisition allows GEODIS to expand our offerings in a consolidating market and solidify our position as one of the world’s top 10 leading logistics providers,” she said.
And Mike Honious, president and CEO of Geodis in Americas, said Need It Now Delivers had been acquired because of its dedicated team, national network and long-standing customer relationships in high-growth industry verticals.
“I am confident the combination of our two organisations will create a powerful set of end-to-end logistics solutions to best support our customers’ growth,” he said.
Need It Now Delivers has a workforce of more than 2000 employees and covers high-growth sectors including apparel, electronics, home furnishings, automotive products and medical supplies.
The completion of the acquisition means Geodis now employs around 15,000 people in the US and operates more than 200 locations totalling 53 million square feet of warehousing space domestically.
Geodis said the two organisations combined would have generated US$3.7 billion for full year 2021 in the US.
