VICTORIA International Container Terminal is to remain closed “until further notice”, after an employee returned a positive COVID test.
The terminal shut its doors at about 2200 on Wednesday (22 September).
In a notice to customers VICT said the terminal would remain closed while the company manages the contact tracing and testing of all personnel affected by the positive cases.
“We can confirm that we will not reopen today [23 September] or tonight and tomorrow day shift looks highly unlikely at this point,” the statement reads.
“Extensions to import free time and storage paid through dates will be applied to all imports onsite in line with the period that we remain closed prior to resuming operations.”
VICT has said it is working closely with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, as well as Worksafe Victoria, to determine contacts of the positive cases among the workforce.
The company said it had no further comment at this stage.
